Born Sharif Said Juma, widely recognized as Jay Melody, is a Tanzanian musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born on June 12, 1997, at Mwananyamala Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Said Juma.

Between 2005 and 2011, he pursued his primary education at Muhalitani Primary School in Tandale, an area known for its vibrant social scene in Dar es Salaam.

From 2012 to 2015, he attended Bunju A Secondary School, completing his secondary education there.

In 2016, Jay Melody took his initial steps into the music industry when he enrolled at Tanzania House of Talent (THT), a prominent local training institution for aspiring artists.

After approximately a year of musical development, he was signed by Epic Records Tanzania, one of the country’s leading record labels owned by entertainment executive Ruge Mutahaba.

His debut single, "Goroka," marked his entry into the music scene. Prior to its release, Jay Melody wrote another notable track, "Kivuruge," which he entrusted to artist Nandy. Following its release, "Kivuruge" achieved significant success across multiple markets, establishing Jay Melody's reputation as a rising star in the regional music industry.
